Primary and secondary education can be divided into:
Primary school: from Year 1 to Year 6 or 7, spanning 6 or 7 years (varies between states and territories);
Junior high school: from Year 7 or 8 to Year 10, spanning 3 or 4 years (varies between states and territories);
Senior high school: Year 11 and 12, spanning 2 years.
Primary and secondary schools in Australia can be either public or private, and tuition fees vary depending on the school.

To secure a place in a good school in Australia, students need to queue up before formal enrollment, and the number of places available for young international students is limited.
